A project's classification does not mean an automatic exemption for every purchase.

What is CONFOTUR?
The Consejo de Fomento Turístico administers the incentive regime under Law 158-01 for qualifying projects. The Ministry of Tourism provides a public lookup showing provisional or definitive classifications, decisions and status.
Check the specific resolution
Search the project's legal name in MITUR's official lookup and request the full resolution from the developer. Confirm that the unit and transaction are covered, the applicable dates and the DGII procedure. Do not assume benefits merely because a property is in Cap Cana, Punta Cana or another tourist area.
Exemptions and resales
DGII's tourism tax guide describes incentives for qualifying cases, including benefits related to property transfer tax and IPI. DGII's resale guidance warns that subsequent transfers to third-party buyers do not automatically receive the stated benefits. Check your specific case with a tax advisor before budgeting an exemption.
What should be documented?
Keep the resolution, unit identification, eligibility response and applicable authorizations. If a listing does not publish CONFOTUR documentation, its benefit remains unverified; it is not a promise of tax savings.
